About

Maria Duke is a filmmaker born and raised in Gaithersburg, Maryland. She graduated summa cum laude from St. Mary's College of Maryland in May 2016, with a double major in Film and Media Studies and Sociology.

She is currently working as a freelance Segment Producer based in NYC.

Duke's work is dedicated to telling compelling stories about diverse groups of people and normalizing the representations of all identities. She turned her passion for social justice-oriented filmmaking into her award-winning senior thesis: a narrative short film about a gender-fluid college student embracing their identity and overcoming ignorance in Pride Bound.

When she's not working on her audio-visual projects, she enjoys producing and listening to podcasts and unleashing her competitive side on the Ultimate Frisbee field.
